Moon Shell
(Polinices duplicatus)
oil on canvas
24" x 24"

"No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit."

Helen Keller

The moon shell is the house of the moon snail, a predator that eats clams, mussels, and oysters. This shell, broken in half and smoothed by the surf, washed up on the beach with its structure exposed.
